As a european citizen how do I get a NIE number in Mallorca
To obtain a NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero) number in Mallorca, Spain, follow these steps: 1. Make an appointment (cita previa) ( We can help with that ) :
- Visit the Spanish National Police website
- Select "Mallorca" and "Policia-Asignación de NIE"
- Choose your preferred police station 2. Required documents:
- Completed EX-15 ( ( click here to download ) form
- Valid passport or ID card and photocopies .- Proof of purpose (work contract, property purchase, studies, etc.)
- Proof of payment of the fee (12EU) at any bank using form Model 790

- You should not need two recent passport-size photos but take them just in case.
IMPORTANT you will not be able to enter the station if you do you have the receipt for you Model 790
- click to download to show. You MUST print this out some days before and take it to pay with cash at a bank. Most banks will let you do this but only some days of the week and only for a couple of hours. You can pay at a La Caixa cash machine in cash
- you need to scan the barcode and select the "pay in cash" option. You must take a 10EU note. The machine will not give change. You will need a valid NIE number which you must get from someone else.

3. Visit the police station:
- Attend your appointment with all required documents
- Present your documents to the officer
- They will process your application 4. Collect your NIE:
- In Mallorca you will receive it immediately
- In some cases, you'll need to return in a few days to collect it

- Arrive early for your appointment
- Bring all original documents and photocopies
- Consider using a gestor (administrative assistant) to help with the process
